Following a breakout season from the New York Giants, where the squad put up its largest win total since 2016 and won a playoff game, NY made some moves in the offseason to bolster the roster. Here is some info to help you determine your New York Giants prop bets for the 2023 season.
On March 15, the Giants made a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders and acquired tight end and 2020 Pro Bowler Darren Waller. In Waller’s seven NFL seasons, the Georgia Tech product has posted two 1,000-yard seasons (2019 and 2020). However, Waller has only played a full season twice.
On top of the Waller acquisition, the Giants added linebacker help by signing Bobby Okereke, who was second on Indianapolis in tackles in 2022, to a four-year deal. Plus, New York drafted defensive back Deonte Banks out of Maryland in the first round and followed that selection up with OL John Michael Schmitz and receiver Jalin Hyatt.
Between the Giants making the playoffs this year and these acquisitions, there are higher expectations. That is reflected in some of the odds from New York sportsbooks. Here are the five best prop bets to place on the 2023 New York Giants.
1. NY Giants to Score 1+ Touchdowns in Every Regular-Season Game (+250)
This bet, available at NY sportsbook FanDuel, is an easy one to place. Last season, the first year under head coach Brian Daboll, the Giants posted a touchdown in every regular season contest. New York was fifth in the NFL in red zone efficiency, and quarterback Daniel Jones was responsible for 22 touchdowns.
With two new weapons in Waller and Hyatt, plus a second season under Daboll and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, expect New York to boast a solid offense that will score at least a touchdown in every game.
2. NY Giants to Make the Playoffs (+160)
The landscape of the NFC leads to a clear path for the Giants to notch a playoff spot for the second consecutive season. The winner of the NFC South and West will likely be the lone teams to clinch from those divisions.
That leaves three wild card spots for the NFC East and North. With questions at quarterback for Washington, Green Bay, and inconsistency thus far from Justin Fields in Chicago, New York can claim its spot in the playoffs once again. The NFC East is controlled by Philadelphia and Dallas, but the G-Men have a lane to a wild card spot in 2023. Take this bet on FanDuel.
3. NY Giants Under 7.5 Wins in 2023 (-120)
If you think think we’re out of line on the earlier bet and the Giants are going to “regress to the mean” after an unexpected season in 2022, this bet courtesy of DraftKings is the best for you. The Giants and Cowboys are tied for the fourth-most difficult schedule this upcoming season.
Plus, seven of the first 11 games for the Giants in 2023 are on the road. This includes a Sunday game against Arizona in the second week followed by a tilt with San Francisco the following Thursday. The heavy road slate could take a toll on the Giants, and if you don’t believe in the roster itself, this is the bet to cash in on.
4. Daniel Jones to Score 10+ Rushing Touchdowns in Regular Season (+300)
Ten seems like a scary-high amount of rushing touchdowns for a quarterback. But with Jones and the Giants in 2023, the offense will revolve around his legs. Consider this: with Pro Bowler Saquon Barkley on the roster in 2022, Jones still managed to post seven rushing scores and just over 700 yards.
In two postseason games, Jones led the Giants in rushing yards. Including the playoffs, Jones had double-digit carries in two of the final three games of the Giants’ season. Daboll continued to trust Jones in space. That should not change in 2023. These are great odds found for this prop on FanDuel.
5. New York Giants Prop Bet: 10+ Sacks for Kayvon Thibodeaux in Regular Season (+140)
In the NFL, it is all about the sophomore-year jump. In his rookie year, Kayvon Thibaodeaux had moments where he looked like the best player on the field.
The Giants have more depth on the defensive line thanks to A’Shawn Robinson and Rakeem Nuñez-Roches coming to New York in free agency. Plus with Okereke in the middle, it takes more pressure off of Thibodeaux. Expect the edge rusher to soar in 2023, taking the over on this bet at DraftKings.
