BallyBet NY Sportsbook Review
Given the stiff competition in the NY online sportsbook scene, BallyBet has some pretty big expectations to meet.
Right off the bat, it is important to mention that Bally’s does not offer new NY players a welcome bonus. While this definitely puts the brand at a disadvantage, there is still value to be had for New York sports bettors!
This value is mostly in the form of a revolving door of both seasonal and recurring offers, a solid loyalty program, and competitive odds. While there are definitely some areas that can be improved upon, we’re confident in saying that BallyBet is a safe and reliable brand.
It’s not a universally positive review, with concerns about just how few payment methods the brand accepts amongst some other minor gripes, but overall, we can categorize Bally Bet as a “safe pair of hands” for bettors in New York looking to join a new sportsbook.
BallyBet New York Promotions
The July Special: Place 4 bets of $50 and receive a $20 free bet
Parlay All Day: Bet a 4+ leg parlay and get a $25 free bet if only one leg loses
As mentioned, BallyBet does not offer a welcome bonus for NY players, which is definitely a drawback for the brand as they don’t have a hook to entice new customers.
However, given the level of competition in NY between brands and Bally’s substantial presence in the gaming industry as a whole, we don’t believe it a stretch to say that we expect them to remedy this situation soon.
Despite the lack of a welcome bonus, BallyBet does offer other promos that are more than worthy of your consideration!
Other Promotions & Offers
Once you’ve wagered those initial welcome bets, there are a couple of other bonuses and promotions that returning customers can claim with no BallyBet promo code.
There’s the Happy Hour promo that is available on Mondays and Thursdays, via which BallyBet customers enjoy reduced spread lines of as much as -105 on NFL and college football games.
There’s the chance to earn loyalty points as well, and you can redeem these at Bally’s casino properties across the United States. You can also earn trophies from your betting, which can be exchanged for free bet credits and more besides.
As we come towards the end of this BallyBet review, we wanted to mention their unique ‘trophies’ loyalty program. This VIP package is not unlike many others, but as well as earning points for your staking, you can also pick up trophies as you progress through the ranks.
The trophies are a nice accolade, but it’s what they represent that really counts – free bet credits can be claimed when you win particular items of silverware. You can win free bets of up to $100 once you have made 100 winning wagers, as one example, and there are plenty more prizes available for win streaks, backing underdogs, successful parlays, and much more.
It goes without saying that BallyBet offers odds for the most popular sports and competitions, but the depth that they go into marks them out as one of the premier bookies around. For example, you can access as many as 40 individual markets per NFL game, ranging from moneyline, spreads, and totals to team/player props, quarter and half betting, handicaps, and more.
- Point spreads
- Half/quarter betting
- Team props
- Player props (yards, receptions, rebounds, etc)
There’s a similarly comprehensive approach to the depth of game lines and futures that will also please NBA fans too, while fans of hockey, baseball, and college will find odds too..
You can place single bets on your favorite sports or parlays/teasers, and one of the useful features of the betslip is that it shows you the total potential win from your wagers – a nice touch, particularly when parlay betting.
The grey and red color scheme won’t be to everybody’s tastes, and BallyBet doesn’t offer the most exhaustive selection of sports to wager on, but as betting experiences, this is as simple and hassle-free as you are likely to find online.
The sports/competitions covered include:
- Pro/college football (NFL, NCAA, CFL etc)
- Pro/college basketball (NBA, NCAA, etc)
- Ice hockey (NHL, KHL)
- Baseball (MLB, KBO, NPB)
- Motor racing (Formula 1, NASCAR)
- Soccer (EPL, MLS, La Liga, Bundesliga etc)
- Tennis (ATP, WTA, etc)
- Golf (PGA TOUR)
There’s a multitude of betting options available within each of those sports, with the standard markets well backed by a comprehensive selection of player and team props. Parlay bettors that want to mix things up can place round robin bets too when they want to hedge their bets somewhat, which is neat. However, BallyBet doesn’t provide a build-your-own parlay feature, which is becoming increasingly prominent at other sportsbooks.
One disappointment of BallyBet comes via their live betting platform… or their complete lack of one. Several US sportsbooks offer live bets from around the world throughout the day and night, but BallyBet has focused their live offering on just the major sports on American and Canadian soil.
There’s also a clear lack of depth that goes into each live game, so you won’t find stats, trackers, or anything else that might supplement your in-play betting experience. It’s a real disappointment that BallyBet doesn’t have live streaming via their website or app, as many of their competitors boast NHL, tennis, international basketball, and many other events to watch.
When rating the generosity of their odds, BallyBet neither stands out as the best-value bookmaker in the game nor the worst. We found their points total odds to be more generous than moneyline and spreads in our testing, with half or even a full point better off than some others in the market.
We’re happy to report that their futures lines – particularly in the various NFL markets – very much stood up to scrutiny. Although, they were fractionally short in the NBA Championship category when compared to others.
All things considered, the BallyBet sportsbook delivers a solid experience that both newcomers to NY sports betting and those that know the game will enjoy, even if their live betting channel really could use an upgrade.
Withdrawals, Deposits & Payments Methods
As you would expect, there’s an array of different methods via which you can deposit and withdraw funds to and from your BallyBet account:
- Play+ card
- Wire transfer
Once you have completed the BallyBet login process, you can deposit as little as $10 to get started with a maximum deposit limit of $2,000 in a single transaction.
Adding funds to your account is straightforward enough, and you can complete this via both the website and the mobile app. Just click the Deposit option, and the range of payment methods detailed above will be listed. Select your preferred option, choose your amount, and that’s it. For all methods, excluding wire transfers, your transaction will be processed immediately.
As far as withdrawals, right now BallyBet only accepts Play+, ACH, and Cash at Cage. There’s a bit of a delay too as all withdrawal requests can take up to 48 hours to be processed, and then there’s the standard waiting time of the method you have chosen.
At least the withdrawal limits are agreeable, with no limit when collecting winnings in person (although this could be tricky for New Yorkers until Bally’s opens a casino/sportsbook there) and a $25,000 limit per transaction via Play+. The ACH limits depend upon the bank you are paying into.
We await with interest the day that BallyBet is integrated with any online casino that Bally’s develops, hoping a cross-platform wallet will be introduced that can be used simultaneously at either.
Legal and Licensed
At the time of writing this BallyBet review, the brand is available in Colorado, Iowa, Virginia, and Indiana. But we have also learned that BallyBet has been granted a license to operate in New York. This makes BallyBet one of the nine firms to be given the honor, although we don’t yet know when that will take effect.
Registering an Account
To get started with BallyBet, you will need to register for a new player account.
- The first thing to do is click on the Join Now button – you’ll see that in the top right-hand corner of your screen.
- Then you’ll need to enter your chosen credentials – username and password, before entering some personal details such as your name, date of birth, cell phone number, and the last four digits of your social security number.
- Once you have entered your home address and selected the security questions you would like to be stored on file, your BallyBet account will go live – you can enjoy that $100 free bet offer and then, down the line, make your first deposit.
There are three different options available when contacting the customer support team at BallyBet.
You can call the telephone hotline, which is not toll-free, on 844 844 3238. There are no defined hours too, although, in our testing, the phone line was available at 13:00 EST.
Alternatively, we tested out the live chat feature on the BallyBet website and got a response within 15 minutes. If your query is less urgent, you can always email email@example.com.
All the features we have detailed about the BallyBet online sportsbook are available via their mobile browser site or the dedicated app, which you can download to your Apple and Android devices.
To download the iOS app, simply navigate to the App Store or click the App header on the BallyBet website as there’s a direct link there that you can use. You can use that method on Android devices too, or use the search function within the Google Play Store.
What’s interesting about the app is that it runs on the proprietary software developed in-house, so it looks and feels different from other sportsbook apps that you might have already tried. But finding markets and placing bets is easy, and you can claim both of the welcome bonuses via the app if you wish.
You can tell that BallyBet takes responsible gaming seriously based on the tools they offer their customers who feel they need additional support.
Bettors can set an array of personal limits, from deposit size and spending to the time spent on the site/app in a session. If you’d like a longer-term solution, you can suspend your account for 1-14 days, or set an extended time-out of five years or more.
There are other important resources listed on their site too, including phone numbers and web addresses where you can seek help and guidance.
BallyBet New York is one of the first few sportsbooks to be given the go-ahead to operate in the state, and you will find the experience provided to be one of solid, no-frills action.
There are so few sportsbooks offering a no deposit bonus these days that we have to tip our cap to BallyBet for their offer, and that a secondary deposit bonus bolstered is exceptional. The sportsbook itself is robust and detailed, and while the design is not the most aesthetically pleasing, at least bet placement is a breeze thanks to the intuitive betslip.
The live betting channel at BallyBet could be heaps better, it’s true, but as a solid all-rounder goes, this is a brand you can trust to deliver.
It seems highly unlikely that the two-pronged welcome package will last forever, and with risk-free wagers totaling up to $650 on the table, maybe you should give it a shot.
It’s nice and easy to create a new account at BallyBet. Tap the Join Now button in the top right-hand corner, and then fill in your personal details as requested. Once verification has been completed your account will be live.
You can deposit as little as $10 into your BallyBet account, with a maximum of $2,000 in place.
You can cancel a pending withdrawal in your account via the cashier function of your dashboard.
Yes. You earn points when you bet with the firm, and these can be exchanged for bet credits as you earn more trophies.
BallyBet provides four different sections to your available balance, which you can see by clicking on your username. This includes your bonus balance and free bets.
Yes. You can lock in a profit, or hedge your losses, on several sports and bet types thanks to the cash-out feature.
If you plan on wagering via the BallyBet website, you will need to download the GeoComply plugin. App users can simply turn their location settings on via their mobile devices.
