With the dust just settling on the 2022 NFL season, odds for several items in 2023 are available at online sportsbooks in New York.

It used to be that you could just bet on the following year’s Super Bowl, but at NY sportsbooks, bets are available for Super Bowl 58, the NFL Draft, conference winners, and even some award winners.

Let’s take a look at some of the possibilities surrounding the New York NFL teams in the 2023 odds.

Giants and Jets Have Nearly Equal Odds to Reach NFL Super Bowl in 2023

At DraftKings, you can wager on the winner of the AFC and NFC conferences. The NY sportsbook has each New York City team at around the same odds, but that doesn’t necessarily mean their chances are the same. Buffalo, of course, has higher odds in the AFC. Today, however, we will be focusing on the Jets and Giants.

AFC TEAMODDS TO WIN AFCNFC TEAMODDS TO WIN NFC
1. Kansas City Chiefs+3301. San Francisco 490ers+350
2. Buffalo Bills+4002. Philadelphia Eagles+400
3. Cincinnati Bengals+5503. Dallas Cowboys+600
4. Los Angeles Chargers+11004. Green Bay Packers+1100
T5. Baltimore Ravens+12005. Detroit Lions+1100
T5. New York Jets+12006. New York Giants+1300
7. Miami Dolphins+15007. Minnesota Vikings+1400

The Jets stood a decent chance of making the playoffs in 2022 before their hopes imploded with issues at the quarterback position. The rest of the core is solid, however, as New York had both the Offensive (Garrett Wilson) and Defensive (Sauce Gardner) Rookie of the Year this past season.

While the Jets figure out their long-term quarterback plans and whether Zach Wilson fits into them, reports are out that they will be pursuing a veteran QB for 2023.

Whether that ends up being Aaron Rodgers, Lamar Jackson, or even Derek Carr, a veteran signal-caller will be a huge piece of the puzzle. The Jets seem to have things figured out at pretty much every position–except the most important one.

Because the expectation is that the Jets will bring in a quarterback who can win, their odds are at or ahead of 2022 playoff teams like Baltimore, Miami, and Jacksonville.

Will the Giants Bring Back Jones and Barkley?

Whether the Giants can improve on their 9-7-1 record and first playoff victory in 11 seasons depends on what their offensive skill positions look like in 2023.

Quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley are both free agents. After the season ended, Giants general manager Joe Schoen expressed his desire to lock Jones up long term at the QB position.

Barkley had his first healthy season since 2019 and was fourth in the NFL in rushing. He ended up as a finalist for NFL Comeback Player of the Year. If New York locks Jones up long-term, they can use the franchise tag on Barkley to give them another year to figure things out–and to see if Barkley remains productive. Also expect the G-Men to be active in the wide receiver market since the team needs more threats in the pass-catching game.

Like the Jets, the Giants have some work to do in their own division. They were a combined 0-5 against NFC champion Philadelphia and Dallas in 2022. Not winning their division will force them to take a similar path in the playoffs that will keep them away from MetLife Stadium.

In fact, that’s a trend. Since it opened in 2010, MetLife Stadium has hosted just one playoff game: a first-round matchup between the Giants and Atlanta Falcons in the 2011 playoffs. Both teams face an uphill battle to get another postseason game in East Rutherford in 2023.

Bills QB Allen an Early 2023 NFL MVP Candidate

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen finished third in MVP voting behind winner Patrick Mahomes and runner-up Jalen Hurts.

Allen is a co-favorite with Mahomes and Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow entering the 2023 offseason, according to odds at FanDuel.

2023 NFL MVP CANDIDATEODDS TO WIN
Josh Allen+700
Joe Burrow+700
Patrick Mahomes+700
Justin Herbert+900
Jalen Hurts+1200
Lamar Jackson+1300
Aaron Rodgers / Trevor Lawrence/ Dak Prescott+1600

Allen threw for over 4,200 yards and 35 touchdowns last season, but his interception total was somewhat high at 14. He will have to be more careful with the ball if he wants to win the award in 2023.

Burrow and Mahomes will likely be stiff competition for Allen. Justin Herbert could also take a big leap in 2023 with new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, who worked with Dak Prescott in Dallas over the past few seasons.

Hurts will also be in the mix after finishing runner-up this year. From his postgame Super Bowl quotes, it already sounds like the Eagles quarterback is motivated to finish the job in 2023.
