The New York Jets head into Year 2 of the Robert Saleh and Zach Wilson era with high hopes but face long odds in most futures bets.

The New York Jets enter the 2022 season with stability at both head coach and quarterback for the first time in recent years. The team took its lumps last season, but seem poised to improve thanks to a solid offseason acquiring new talent. That said, the Jets still face long odds in most futures bets ahead of the NFL’s new year.

The Jets enter 2022 with only one winning season over the last 11 campaigns (10-6, 2015) and didn’t even make the playoffs that year. It’s been more than a decade since the Jets last playoff win, and considering the improvements other AFC teams made this offseason, Jets fans might be waiting longer still.

Even though the Jets have suffered at least 11 losses in six of the last eight seasons, there’s a great deal of hope that 2022 will be different in New York. Here’s a look at some of the futures odds facing the New York Jets ahead of the 2022 season.

Jets Futures Odds for Total Wins

Under new head coach Robert Saleh, the Jets managed to double their 2020 win total (2) to four in 2021. Assuming New York can accomplish that feat once again in 2022 seems to be ill considered, especially given the competition they’re facing in the AFC. That said, the Jets added talent this offseason, particularly with their three first-round picks and their second-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Despite these additions, and the expected internal improvement from second-year players like quarterback Zach Wilson, sportsbooks still set long futures odds for the Jets in 2022. Most sportsbooks listed the win total for the team at 5.5 for the new season.

SportsbookOverUnder
BetMGM5.5 (-155)5.5 (+130)
Caesars5.5 (-175)5.5 (+150)
DraftKings5.5 (-165)5.5 (+135)
FanDuel5.5 (-160)5.5 (+135)

DraftKings provides its bettors with an alternate season wins option. Those futures odds favor the alternate high regular season wins total for the Jets to go Under 6.5 (-175), with the Over 6.5 at +135. DraftKings seems confident the Jets will get to at least five wins in 2022, considering the alternate low regular season wins total sees -360 odds to go Over 4.5.

What are the Odds the Jets Make the Playoffs in 2022?

The last time New York made an appearance in the AFC postseason was 2010. Since then, the team has posted a 63-114 record, with eight losing seasons and only one season above .500 (2015). The Jets face some of the longest futures odds when considering a possible postseason berth

But the players remain confident heading into the season. Offseason additions, the return of significant contributors coming off injuries, and high expectations for this rookie class give Jets players hope heading into the season.

While the players look to make a postseason push, most sportsbooks don’t envision that as the fate for New York in 2022. Most favor the Giants in this regard. The Jets see long futures odds to make the playoffs, which makes sense considering they’ll likely finish fourth in the AFC for the sixth time in seven seasons.

  • BetMGM gives the Jets +650 odds to make the playoffs, and -1000 odds to miss.
  • Caesars lists similar odds, favoring No (-1000) over Yes (+650).
  • DraftKings set New York’s playoff odds at +700 to make the postseason and -1100 to miss.
  • FanDuel provides the Jets with the longest playoff futures odds, at +710 to make the playoffs and -1200 to miss.

The Jets do have talent returning for 2022, and a head coach with experience now. If Wilson can take the next step in his development, and the rookies perform at the level many hope they can, the Jets will certainly make things interesting for New York bettors with these futures odds.
