Following an exciting first-half of the 2022 MLB season, the New York teams find themselves with favorable odds for World Series Futures and Props.

The Yankees start the second-half with baseball’s best record (64-28) and could push to set a new single-season wins mark in Major League Baseball. The Mets, meanwhile, faded some after a strong start, but still hold the lead in the NL East and stand just 3.5 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers for the National League’s best record.

These new odds should be no surprise. The New York Yankees recently passed the Dodgers as the betting favorites in many sportsbooks to win the World Series.

The New York teams aren’t the only ones vying for the Commissioner’s Trophy this year. Three of the last five World Series winners remain in the mix as well. The defending champs, the Atlanta Braves, can’t be dismissed, nor the Dodgers, who won in 2020. The Houston Astros have made World Series appearances in three of the last five seasons and won the title in 2017.

Entering the All-Star break, the Yankees took the odds lead at FanDuel. But the Dodgers still hold a slight advantage at DraftKings. LA’s shorter odds at DraftKings come despite having four fewer wins than the Yankees in the first-half of the season. New York holds a 13-game lead in the AL East while the Dodgers have a 10-game cushion in the NL West.

The Yankees closed their first-half schedule by scoring 27 runs over their last two games against their archrival, the Boston Red Sox. But New York opens the second-half with an important doubleheader against the Astros in Houston.

The New York Mets, meanwhile, still hold the second-best odds to win the World Series. This is despite seeing their division lead shrink over the last several weeks. What bolstered their odds of late was taking two-of-three games in Atlanta against the Braves before the All-Star break.

World Series future bets aren’t the only wagers New York fans should consider for the second-half of MLB’s 2022 season. The Yankees seem like they’re in control of the American League. Only injuries could derail their run at this point.

This is the best Yankees team assembled in quite some time. They remain the favorites to win the World Series heading into MLB’s second-half. Aaron Judge leads a Yankees lineup that averages 5.4 runs-per-game. He posted a 0.982 OPS and connected on 33 home runs before the All-Star break. 

If the Yankees win the AL, it would be fitting that their crosstown rivals, the New York Mets, make it to the World Series, too. The Mets enter the second-half with the fourth-best run differential (+83) in MLB.

The Mets are 28-12 in the competitive NL East. They look to add Cy Young winner Jacob deGrom return to the rotation soon. Mets hitters won’t make life easy on opposing pitchers down the stretch either. They sport the league’s third-lowest strikeout rate (20 percent).

The Mets (58-35) opened the season with at +145 odds to win the NL East and currently stand as the betting favorites for the division crown at -165. Their odds to win the NL pennant started at +550 this season, and have since shortened to +320.
