The New York Jets have been in the news lately. Aaron Rodgers reportedly wants to head to New York and a deal to send the 10-time pro bowler to the Jets sounds imminent. The Packers want a first-rounder and more for their future hall-of-fame quarterback. If the Jets are able to deal for Rodgers, their Super Bowl odds would improve considerably.

We’ll preview the Jets and give the Super Bowl odds along with taking a look at a few prop bets.

Jets Possible Outlook

The Jets had an encouraging 2022-2023 season. They went 7-10 and seemed to be a quarterback away from doing some major damage. Zach Wilson, Mike White, and Joe Flacco each shared time and each struggled. Despite the inconsistencies under center the Jets struck gold elsewhere.

The New York Jets 2022 draft class will be one to remember. Rookies Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson each took home Rookie of the Year honors. Additionally, the Jets showed that they had a talented defense.

Breece Hall was the team’s second-round pick. He impressed as the Jets starting running back but a torn ACL prevented him from playing a complete season. Hall was a contender to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award prior to his injury.

Once Rodgers is brought into the mix the Jets will look scary. The problem is negotiations could continue to stall.

Jets Chances to Make Playoffs and Regular Season Win Total

The Jets now find themselves in minus money to make the 2023-2024 NFL playoffs. DraftKings is listing the Jet’s odds at -160 to make the postseason. If they do qualify it would be the first time in 13 years that it’s happened.

DraftKings has the Jet’s chances to finish with more than 9.5 wins at -130. 10 wins or more generally guarantees a playoff spot in the NFL.

The odds for the Jets are at an in-between point right now. NY sportsbooks don’t want to give the Jets too much respect, as the deal for Rodgers has yet to be made. Yet, the trade seems so imminent that Robert Saleh’s team is still in minus money for the postseason. Additionally, Rodgers has made requests to the Jets to acquire a list of talented players. The list includes wide receivers Allen Lazard and Odell Beckham Jr.

Jets 2023-2024 Prop Bets According to FanDuel

Garrett Wilson is close to even money to go for 10 touchdowns or more next season. Wilson only had four last season but he did so with quarterback issues. Oddsmakers are expecting a scoring explosion from the young wideout, as he’s due to have a more reliable signal caller this coming season. Wilson’s odds to score 10+ touchdowns in the regular season are +125.

Another interesting prop bet is for the Jets to have a passing touchdown in every regular season game. Rodgers was last able to accomplish this feat in 2011 but has come close a number of times. Last year, the only game in which he didn’t throw a touchdown was his first one. The odds for the Jets to have a passing touchdown in each regular season game are +750.

The Jets have odds listed for them to finish as the top seed in the AFC. Now, this would be a riskier wager, as we’ve yet to see how the new-look Jets team performs on the field. However, if they make the move for Rodgers and continue to build a solid team they will further establish themselves as favorites. As of now, their odds to be the 1 seed in the AFC are +850.

The Jets are tied with the Dallas Cowboys for the 6th best odds to win the 2023-2024 Super Bowl. The Jets won the Super Bowl in 1969 but have not appeared in one since.

The defending Super Bowl champs, the Kansas City Chiefs are the favorites to run it back next year. After that, it’s the Eagles, Bills, Bengals, and 49ers all in a tie for the 2nd best odds.

We’re still at the beginning of the NFL off-season. There’s a lot to learn about every team, especially the New York Jets. The deal’s not done but the Jets are closing in on quarterback stability for the coming year.
