It probably doesn’t make Buffalo Bills fans feel any better, but they did narrowly lose to the eventual Super Bowl champions.
The Bills’ narrow three-point loss after a heartbreaking missed field goal by Tyler Bass in the AFC Divisional round of the playoffs sent the Kansas City Chiefs to the AFC Championship game. The Chiefs dominated the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens defensively, and won Super Bowl 58 in dramatic fashion over San Francisco, 25-22 in overtime.
Now that the 2023 season is over, it’s time to look ahead to what 2024 may bring in our first look at the Super Bowl futures odds for the February 2025 game in New Orleans. Just like they were in 2022, the Bills are among the preseason favorites to finally get over the hump and win it all. And what about the New York Jets with Aaron Rodgers coming back? And will the New York Giants rebound after a disappointing season? Let’s take a look.
SUPER BOWL FUTURES ODDS: Will the Bills Finally Pull It Off?
It’s been a mixed bag for Bills fans over the past five years. On one hand, under quarterback Josh Allen, the Bills have returned to relevancy and have won the AFC East for four years in a row now. Unfortunately for Buffalo, that’s translated into plenty of playoff heartbreak. After advancing to the AFC Championship after the 2020 season, it’s been three consecutive second-round exits since.
Buffalo has shown the ability to beat Kansas City, doing so in the past three regular seasons.
We’ve seen what the Bills have to offer over the past few years. It took them to the midway point of the season to figure it out this year, but they are one of the best teams in the league when they’re firing on all cylinders. A healthier defense in 2024 should lead to more consistent results for Sean McDermott’s crew, but they will have to contend with not only Miami but their rival from New York City as well.
Jets Get a Do-Over With Aaron Rodgers in 2024
After an offseason filled with promise and hype, the Aaron Rodgers era lasted just one series. But with the Jets set to roll it back in 2024, the team needs to be prepared in case its 40-something quarterback misses more games.
If you want to take that bet, you’re of course more than welcome. And maybe New York will have as much good luck next year to cancel out their bad luck in 2023. But we need to see more before we start believing again.
Giants Have Among the Longest Super Bowl Futures Odds in the NFL
After an unexpectedly great 2022 season, expectations were higher for the New York Giants last year. But the season started on a miserable note (40-0 loss at home to Dallas) and didn’t get much better. New York was solid during a late-season three-game winning streak under cult hero Tommy DeVito, and backup Tyrod Taylor played fairly well over the season’s final three games, but it was an overall disappointing 6-11 year for Big Blue.
Going into his third year, the microscope will be on head coach Brian Daboll as well. A feud between he and defensive coordinator Wink Martindale was downplayed midseason but exploded after the regular season ended, leading to the resignation of Martindale.
