2023-2024 NBA Championship Odds: Knicks Middle of the Pack, Nets Long Shots

The 2022-2023 NBA season has concluded with the Denver Nuggets defeating the Miami Heat in 5 games to win the NBA Championship. It marked the Nuggets first NBA title in their franchise’s 56 year history. What comes now is a 4 month off-season where many teams are going to shake things up with the hopes of competing for a Championship next season.

The Knicks and Nets were each bounced in the early rounds of the playoffs this year. It’s never too early to start looking at the title odds for next season. Where will the Knicks and the Nets stand in the NBA title race?

The Knicks didn’t receive a lot of respect this past season from NY Sportsbooks and that hasn’t changed when it comes to next season’s title odds. New York surprised a lot of people by making the playoffs and winning their first round matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers before losing in the next round to the Heat.

The Knicks have something to be excited about moving forward, with Jalen Brunson and Immanuel Quickley each expected to be a part of the Knicks long term plans.

The Nets came into this past season with title expectations led by the talents of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Eventually General Manager Sean Marks pulled the plug on the duo, dealing each of them before the NBA trade deadline.

The Nets still have Ben Simmons on their roster. Simmons did not produce offensively last season the way he did in Philadelphia. He only played in 42 games last year after missing the entire 2021-2022 season.

The Knicks are reportedly in the market for a star this off-season. Bradley Beal could be a guy they go after. The Wizards star is rumored to want out of Washington.

The Knicks have the assets to swing for a star player. The team could look to deal for a perimeter scorer after clearly not having enough of it in the playoffs. New York has a young group but are lacking offensive firepower.

The Nets are in the beginning of their rebuild. They acquired Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson and four first round draft picks in the Durant trade. Bridges, 26, had a great second half stint with the Nets, averaging 26.1 points a game in 27 games with the Nets.

The Nets have the contract of Ben Simmons they could look to get off of this off-season. He could be paired with another young player and draft picks to trade for a superstar. If this were to happen it would completely shake up this team, as well as their 2023-2024 NBA Championship odds.

The Denver Nuggets are favored to repeat as NBA Champions. They’ll be returning the two time MVP and reigning Finals MVP Nikola Jokic. They’ll also bring back Jamal Murray, whose huge Game 3 in the NBA Finals proved critical in his team’s title victory. It’s typical for a reigning NBA Champion to be favored to win it all the next year. Because of this, they don’t have great value and will have a target on their back next season.

The Boston Celtics have the second best odds to win the NBA title. The Celtics have one of the deepest teams in the league led by Jayson Tatum and Jalen Brown. They’ve been unable to win it all with their current core, losing in the NBA Finals last season and the Eastern Conference Finals this year. 

Lebron James will be entering his 21st season in the league and his Los Angeles Lakers are tied for the 5th best NBA title odds. The Warriors are the team they are tied with. Golden State could look to shake things after their second round exit. They’ve been rumored to be interested in making a big move or two. As long as they have Stephen Curry on the team, they will be a huge draw to NBA bettors.

The Miami Heat are further down the list. They have the 10th best odds to win the NBA Championship, at +2000. They became the second 8 seed to ever to reach the NBA Finals this year. Their run was impressive but the team was ultimately outmatched by a more talented Nuggets team. The Heat will be returning Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo next season. Miami is always a tough matchup in the postseason and have good NBA title value next season.
