Super Bowl Odds Update: Buffalo Bills Regain Favorite Status

SBNY » Super Bowl Odds Update: Buffalo Bills Regain Favorite Status

Week 13 in the NFL saw heavy swings in the Super Bowl futures odds market for many of the top teams. This includes the Buffalo Bills, who are now once again favorites to win Super Bowl 57.

Bills Overtake Kansas City After One-Week Switch

Last week, the Kansas City Chiefs took over the top spot on the odds chart from Buffalo for the first time this season. It was short-lived, however, as the Bills moved back up since they are once again leading the race for home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.

After a relatively easy 24-10 win over New England on Thursday night, the Bills sat back and watched the Cincinnati Bengals do them a favor by knocking off the Chiefs 27-24 on Sunday. The Bengals shut the Chiefs out in the fourth quarter and outscored them 10-0 in the fourth quarter for Joe Burrow’s third victory over Patrick Mahomes since late in the 2021 season.

The Bills were also helped in the 4 p.m. window on Sunday by San Francisco sending Miami down to 8-4, putting the 9-3 Bills alone in first place in the AFC East.

Other teams had big swings from Week 13. Let’s take a look at each.

NFC East Teams

Philadelphia and Dallas each got a bit of a boost with dominant wins over AFC South teams Tennessee and Indianapolis, respectively. The Eagles are looking more and more like they will be getting home-field advantage in the NFC playoffs, and they have already defeated two of the other top-three contenders (Dallas and Minnesota). They have a game remaining at Dallas but a two-game lead over the Cowboys in the NFC East.

San Francisco vs. Miami Led to Big Swings

The 49ers dropped from +700 to +1200 despite beating Miami and retaining a one-game lead over Seattle in the NFC West. The drop was due to a foot injury sustained by quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. It appears that rookie Brock Purdy will be leading the Niners for the rest of the regular season, but the running game and defense is so strong that San Francisco will be a strong candidate to reach the NFC Championship game for the third time in four years.

The Dolphins lost their AFC East lead due to the loss in San Francisco, and they still have to play in the Bills in Buffalo down the stretch.

AFC North Teams

Despite Baltimore having the tiebreaker over Cincinnati at the moment, the Bengals are favored to win the division due to Cincy getting hot again late in the year and the Ravens being without quarterback Lamar Jackson for a few weeks with a knee injury. The teams play in Cincinnati in Week 18 in a game that could decide the division.

Who Has the Best Value Odds for Super Bowl 57?

We would give San Francisco and Cincinnati the best value. The Niners just missed out on reaching the Super Bowl last year and seem more talented in 2022. They are built to not fear going into opposing stadiums. They won at Dallas and Green Bay in the 2021 season’s playoffs, so going into Philadelphia or Minnesota is unlikely to faze them.

Same goes for the Bengals. Burrow and company proved they could win on the road last year, winning at Tennessee and Kansas City and then nearly taking the Super Bowl from the Los Angeles Rams, who were playing on their home field of SoFi Stadium.

Cincinnati also has an outside shot at home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. They own the tiebreaker over the Chiefs but are one game behind KC in the standings. The Bengals are also one game behind Buffalo, but the teams play in Cincy in Week 17.

This pair of teams at +1200 would equal a great Super Bowl Sunday payday if they happen to matchup against each other.
