Saquon Barkley’s rookie season lived up to his status as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, when he rushed for 1,307 yards, caught another 721 yards worth of passes, and had 15 total touchdowns for the New York Giants. That performance earned him the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

In the three seasons since, he has 1,630 rushing yards and 12 total touchdowns. He battled injuries in 2019 and ’21, which limited his effectiveness, and he tore his ACL in Week 2 of the 2020 season.

Now, going into his fifth season–and the final one of his rookie contract with the Giants, Barkley is healthy and is impressing his teammates and new head coach Brian Daboll at training camp.

Just 25, Barkley has been voted a captain for the past three seasons, meaning that his teammates think highly of his leadership ability, which should tell you that he will be giving it all on the field this season.

He was also a focal point of the only drive that he participated in during the first preseason game last week, rushing three times for 13 yards and catching a pass for eight yards against New England.

The only question is: can he stay healthy?

Saquon Barkley Props Depend on His Health

If you think Barkley will remain healthy, he will obviously be a big part of the Giants offense and should eclipse these two over-under prop bets.

DraftKings is offering two props on Barkley that you can be bullish on if you forecast good health for the G-Men running back.

SAQUON BARKLEY 2022 RUSHING YARDS
Over 900.5 Yards-120
Under 900.5 Yards-110

This line opened at 875.5 yards in mid-July and is up 25 yards a month later. The odds are also slightly worse for the over, meaning that much of the action has likely been on the over for this wager. Barkley ran over 1,000 yards in his first two years and failed to do so in his most recent two.

SAQUON BARKLEY 2022 RUSHING TOUCHDOWNS
Over 7.5 Touchdowns-115
Under 7.5 Touchdowns-115

Oddsmakers are seeing this as more of an even bet, as the line has not seen any movement and each side is trending at -115. There are other factors at play here, including how effective the Giants offense is and how many times Barkley will be targeted through the air in goal-line situations.

For this reason, we would take a pass on this wager but try our luck with the over on the rushing yards prop.

Comeback Player of the Year Odds

If Barkley posts over 1,000 rushing yards and is a focal point of the Giants offense like in 2018, he will be a candidate for comeback player of the year.

There are some candidates ahead of him, including running backs Derrick Henry and Christian McCaffrey along with the New Orleans Saints duo of Jameis Winston and Michael Thomas, but Barkley is on the board if you’re looking at the top-10 candidates for Comeback Player of the Year on DraftKings.

NFL 2022 COMEBACK PLAYER OF THE YEARODDS
Derrick Henry+400
Jameis Winston+550
Christian McCaffrey+750
Daniel Jones+800
Michael Thomas+800
Baker Mayfield+1200
Mitchell Trubisky+1200
Chase Young+1400
J.K. Dobbins+1400
Saquon Barkley+1500

You can see that Barkley’s teammate Daniel Jones is among the favorites for this award, so oddsmakers are thinking that good things should be in store for the Giants offense, which was woefully ineffective without Jones in the final handful of games of the 2021 season.
