New York Sports Betting Reaches $1.19 Billion in January: Record Monthly Handle for US State

SBNY » New York Sports Betting Reaches $1.19 Billion in January: Record Monthly Handle for US State

The New York State Gaming Commission released Friday figures that show mobile sports betting apps have generated nearly $1.18 billion through January 23, with a handle on the five licensed providers combined reaching over 830 thousand individuals across all accounts worldwide.

The record monthly sports betting handle for a US state is $1.3 billion, set by New Jersey in October and broken last month when Nevada took down that honor with an incredible 2 million plus wagers placed on game alone!

So if you add up all bets made at brick-andmortar bookies as well as four commercial casinos operating throughout Upstate NY then our current total stands close to 1:19 Billion dollars between them—that’s quite something indeed.

The gaming industry in the state of Georgia is booming. Mobile games generate $91 million, and it’s estimated that 40% comes from applications developed by local companies!

The top of the list goes to Caesars in New York

The five leading sports betting apps in New York City reported a handle of $572.6 million for the week ending last Sunday, an increase from previous weeks by 32% or 140 Million dollars!

Here are the handles for this week’s five sportsbooks: (from January 8th – January 23rd)

  1. Caesars: $19,036,117
  2. DraftKings: $10,828,664
  3. FanDuel: $10,038,212
  4. BetMGM: $2.5 million
  5. BetRivers: $784,797

The total gross gaming revenues have been reported at $90.6 million, a figure that is more than double the amount from last year’s report and includes taxes for state agencies on this booming industry!

FanDuel reported a one-week handle of $159.7 million and GGR 10%. For the first 16 days mobile sports betting in New York, Flutter Entertainment’s brand recorded total handles exceeding 360 Million with 30% market share.

DraftKings had a whopping $131.1 million in handle for the week ending last Sunday, with an impressive GGR (Growth Rate) score of 10%. The Boston based sports betting operator has been dominating lately as their month-to date total now equals 265M dollars – putting them at 22%.

With a weekly handle of $11.6 million, BetRivers is on the right track to success! The brand’s GGR was nearly785 thousand for its first 16 days-not bad considering it only launched last month.

BetMGM handle for the first six days in New York was $40 million dollars. The operator reported GGRs over 2 million during this time frame with an average click-through rate (CTR) at around 15%.
