Best Knicks Futures Odds and Playoff Props for 2022-23 NBA Season

The New York Knicks enter the 2022-23 NBA season with their eyes on making a run back to the postseason. After missing the playoffs last year, the Knicks added Jalen Brunson this offseason to bolster their chances. As the league readies to tip off its 77th season this week, the Knicks futures odds and playoff props remain popular wagers at many New York sportsbooks. 

After all the coaching changes, trade demands, and roster moves, the 2022-23 NBA Championship odds look very similar to that initial release. Each of the last five seasons have ended with a new NBA champion, and no team has repeated as title winners since the Warriors did so in 2018 and 2019. The Knicks haven’t won an NBA Championship since 1973, and the odds remains long for that streak to snap this season. 

Here’s a look at some of the best odds for Knicks futures and playoff props ahead of the 2022-23 NBA season. 

New York’s made the postseason just once in the last nine years and enters the season following a 37-45 campaign. The Knicks managed a 39-43 mark against the spread and played well as Moneyline favorites (23-15), including a 19-9 mark when favored by more than three points. Conversely, New York struggled as underdogs of 3.5 points or more, going just 9-25.

Sportsbooks set the Knicks’ win total over/under at 38.5 for the 2022-23 season after the team finished with 37 victories last year. Although New York added Brunson, several Eastern Conference teams improved this offseason. 

Bettors may be tempted to fade this Knicks futures wager on account of the stronger conference and the fact that New York sees the 10th most difficult schedule this season (based on opponents’ combined win total from last season). Brunson is a nice player but hardly a franchise-changer, and Julius Randle regressed last season after his big payday. 

Following another disappointing regular season, the New York Knicks pinned their hopes on a roster reset this offseason. New York entered the offseason with some of the longest NBA Championship odds in the league (+25000 at most sportsbooks) but speculation of a trade for Donovan Mitchell drove that Knicks futures wager to shorter odds for a time. But the Knicks balked at Utah’s price and the Jazz ultimately made a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers instead. 

Now, the Knicks are faced with the hardest divisional schedule in the NBA, thanks to their Atlantic Division opponents registering 776 victories last season. 

The Knicks last made the playoffs two seasons ago, finishing 41-31 and grabbing the Eastern Conference 4-seed. But New York lost in the first round to the Atlanta Hawks that year, and now haven’t progressed to the second round of the playoffs in a decade. Whether or not New York even makes the playoffs this season remains one of the more compelling Knicks futures out there. 

The Knicks remain an underdog in these futures odds to make the playoffs in 2022-23. Though, bettors see solid potential payouts with plus-odds for a Yes wager. New York will need Brunson to build upon his playoff performance while with the Dallas Mavericks last season, as well as a return to form from Randle.
