MLS Betting News For New York Soccer Teams

SBNY » MLS Betting News For New York Soccer Teams

After midweek matches in the Concacaf Champions League, there is a full schedule of fixtures in MLS at the weekend as the regular season begins to take shape. In this article we look at MLS betting news for games involving the New York Red Bulls and New York City.

MLS New York Red Bulls

New York Red Bulls vs FC Dallas

The New York Red Bulls are the -120 money line favorites in the match-up with Dallas at the Red Bull Arena on Saturday. This fixture brings together the home team who are third in the Eastern Conference and opponents lying in fifth place in the Western Conference.

New York have won 10 points from six fixtures, scoring 10 goals and conceding six. Their three wins have all come on the road and they have drawn one and lost two of three fixtures with home field advantage. They are one of just two teams in the Conference not to win at home this season.

Dallas have earned one more point from the same number of games, scoring 10 times while giving up four goals at the other end of the pitch. Three road trips have seen them earn just one point so Dallas are clearly a much better outfit at their own ground.

So, we have a fixture in which teams are playing where they have both underperformed this season. Dallas will attract some betting interest at +325 but their away record means there is no value in the odds. The wise move may be to sit on the fence and back the draw at +260.

The Red Bulls three home fixtures have produced six goals while there has been just one goal in the two away fixtures Dallas have contested this season. So, those matches have averaged just 1.4 goals which suggests a low scoring fixture on Saturday evening. Under 2.5 goals at -115 looks the bet.

New York City FC vs Real Salt Lake

New York City FC are the current MLS champions while Real Salt Lake reached the semi-finals of the playoffs. They lost to the Timbers in Portland who New York beat in the MLS Cup after extra-time and penalties at Providence Park.  New York are -165 favourites for this home fixture on Sunday.

City FC are currently in 12th place in the Eastern Conference. However, due to Concacaf Champions League commitments, they have played five MLS matches this season to date. The hosts have at least one game in hand over 10 of the 11 teams above them in the current standings.

New York have won one and lost one of two home matches during 2022,scoring four goals and conceding three. Only the bottom two teams in the Conference have accumulated fewer points at home at this stage of the regular season. The odds look short enough for a home win.

There could be some value in backing Real Salt Lake to secure all three points at +450. The visitors have lost just one of four away matches, scoring and conceding four goals. Both teams are showing inconsistency so taking the better odds with the underdogs could be the way to go.

Respective home and away matches have produced 15 goals at an average of 2.5 goals per match. That means the scoring records suggest no bet in the Under/Over 2.5 goals market. However, there
