The Giants head into 2022 with a new, offensive-minded head coach and bettors see intriguing team betting specials at most New York sportsbooks.
The New York Giants finished the 2021 NFL season with the most stagnant offense in the league: The Giants fell flat last season, their fifth-straight finishing under .500. As a result, the team turned over the majority of the coaching staff and pinned its hopes to new head coach, the offensive-minded Brian Daboll. This shift in philosophy makes a number of the Giants betting specials intriguing ahead of the 2022 NFL season.
Despite the firing of offensive coordinator Jason Garrett midway through the campaign, the G-Men still struggled to consistently score, especially during the six-game losing streak to finish the season. During that skid, the Giants averaged a league-low 9.3 points-per-game.
New York ended 2021 4-13, but managed a 6-11 mark against the spread. The Giants remain optimistic for their 2022 outlook and beyond, hoping the new offensive-minded coaching staff can jump start performance, but that remains to be seen.
New York’s NFC East Odds Could Have Value
All of the uncertainty around this Giants team makes looking at the betting specials from sportsbooks among the most intriguing in the league. While New York faces long futures odds, there’s a greater than zero chance that this team makes a considerable leap in 2022.
One intriguing market to consider is the NFC East winner. Only twice since 2002 has the NFL not seen at least one worst-to-first team among division winners. And considering the options from last season, the Giants stand as one of the few teams with an outside shot at accomplishing the feat. Even FanDuel agrees:
This one of the Giants team betting specials carries favorable odds among most New York sportsbooks.
While the Dallas Cowboys remain the favorites to win the division, the NFC East hasn’t seen a repeat winner since the Philadelphia Eagles did it four years in a row between 2001 and 2004. The Eagles made the playoffs as a Wild Card team last year, but managed just an 9-8 record and still have lingering questions at quarterback. The Washington Commanders finished 7-10 last season.
Giants Betting Specials for 2022
BetMGM, like some of the other sportsbooks, targets seven wins as the most likely win total for the Giants next season. Though, with the fourth-easiest schedule based on 2021 team records ahead of them for 2022, New York bettors could find a favorable wager here.
One of the Giants betting specials to avoid is the “Giants to go 0-17 in the Regular Season” at BetMGM, which sits at +12500 odds.
At Caesars, New York’s exact win total betting special lists six victories with the shortest odds (+325), followed by seven (+400), five (+450), eight (+500), and nine (+600).
Over at DraftKings, a pair of Giants betting specials remain intriguing. The first is “Giants Over 360.5 Reg Season Points Scored,” which the sportsbook provides +100 odds for. Their 258 points scored last season checked in last among NFC teams and second-fewest in the NFL. But with a new, offensive-minded head coach and healthy offensive playmakers, New York should be able to clear that figure.
The other NFL betting special at DraftKings to consider is “NY Giants to beat DAL Cowboys, WAS Commanders & PHI Eagles at least once during the Reg Season.” The odds here enter at +280. While this isn’t a feat the team accomplished in 2021, they did so in 2020 and 2016.
New York Super Bowl Odds This Season
The Giants enter the 2022 NFL season with some of the longest Super Bowl odds in the league. That’s no surprise, considering last year’s offensive futility and the uncertainty surrounding a new, inexperienced head coach.
The Giants odds to win the NFC Championship also remain among the longest in the conference, ahead of just a handful of rebuilding teams. DraftKings lists New York’s odds of getting to the conference title game at +2500, and the odds the Giants enter the postseason as the NFC’s No. 1 seed at +10000.
New York enters this new era with considerable hope. It helps the G-Men see the fourth-easiest schedule based on 2021 team records ahead of them for 2022. A mid-season bye should help, as should the staff and roster upgrades. That said, it’s up to each bettor to decide if these Giants betting specials stand as intriguing enough to wager on.
