Super Bowl prop betting is an extremely popular form of betting when it comes to the NFL’s biggest game. This year should be no different as the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs prepare to battle it out to see who will be crowned Super Bowl champion. The Eagles will be attempting to win their second Super Bowl while the Chiefs will be looking for their third.

First Touchdown Scorer

The first touchdown scorer may be the most popular Super Bowl prop bet. The odds for this bet are long, which creates a lot of value for bettors. Last year it was Odell Beckham catching a 17-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford that got the game’s scoring started along with being the first touchdown.

This year Travis Kelce is the favorite to be the game’s first touchdown scorer and Jalen Hurts isn’t far behind. Their odds are +550 and +575 respectively.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling is further down the list, with +1000 odds. Valdes-Scantling exploded in the AFC Championship, finishing with 6 catches for 116 yards and a score. His odds carry good value, especially when considering his recent success.

Super Bowl MVP

The Super Bowl MVP is another popular prop bet. The quarterbacks are typically massive favorites to win this award. However, recent history suggests you can find better value outside of the quarterback position. Of the last 9 Super Bowl MVPs, 4 of them have not been quarterbacks. Last year’s winner was Rams wide receiver, Cooper Kupp.

Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes each have the two best odds at +125 and +130. If you’re not looking to take a quarterback, picking another skilled position player that frequently goes for big games is a good idea. Travis Kelce has the third-best Super Bowl LVII MVP odds, at +1000. The tight end frequently exceeds 100 receiving yards and always has the ability to go for a multi-score game.

Former Heisman Trophy winner, Devonta Smith could also be an interesting pick. Smith hasn’t had the best postseason but is someone that went for a few huge games throughout the regular season. Smith is tied for the 5th best odds to win this year’s Super Bowl MVP, at +2500.

Winning Margin Is Tough to Call

The winning margin can be a popular bet among Super Bowl prop bettors. For this bet, the odds are shorter for the smaller margins. The Eagles and the Chiefs are considered fairly evenly matched so that will be no different for this matchup.

It’s worth noting that in four of the last five Super Bowls, the winning margin has been by 8 points or more. Three of which were by the 7-12 point margin.

The last time the Eagles and the Chiefs met was in Week 4 of the 2021 season at Lincoln Financial Stadium. The Chiefs were in firm control the entire game and won by the score of 42-30. Patrick Mahomes threw for five touchdowns and was able to fend off a massive performance from Jalen Hurts.

A Creative Prop Bet

If you’re just a normal New Yorker that doesn’t have any rooting interest in this one you might want to take a look at this particular prop bet. Will the last play of the game be a QB rush? If you think so, you’ll have -250 odds. If you think it will end any other way, you’ll be able to find +200 odds with Caesars.

In case you’re wondering, four of the last seven Super Bowls have not ended with a QB rush. Although it is the most likely result, a tighter game yields a much higher chance of the game not ending with a quarterback kneel down. These are two talented teams. With the Eagles favored by 1.5 points, everything suggests this game could come down to the wire.

Betting “No” on this prop bet may also be in the interest of the casual bettor that’s pulling for a good game.

Prop Betting Can Be a More ‘Fun” Way to Bet

If you’re done sticking to the moneyline, spread, and total, prop betting can be an enjoyable alternative. There’s never a more popular time to make prop bets than for the Super Bowl. People bet on the coin toss, the length of the national anthem, and even the color of the winning coach’s Gatorade shower.

Some of these bets can feel like money wasters, which is why we took a look at the prop bets related to football. If you’re not looking to wager on anything we talked about above, go through a NY sportsbook and you’ll find a ton of prop betting options. Super Bowl LVII is only 9 days away. You’ll want to ensure you’re ready because it will be here before you know it.
